Lupines op IJsland vanaf wanneer?

  • elninjoo

Ik denk er over om in de eerste helft van juni naar IJsland te gaan, bloeien er dan al lupines?

Ik wil liefst dan al gaan vanwege de hogere kosten na 15 juni.

    Hello.

The Alska lupine is very easy to find in Iceland.

As easy as to find a foreigner in the Netherlands.

It depends on the how the spring is when it will bloom.

Normally from end of may till the end of june.

There are big beautiful lupinefields in the north-east edge of

Reykjavík, and on the lowland next to mount Hafnarfjall

(55 km in north of Rvík is a big field of them)

In 1946 a man was coming from Alaska with an envelope

in his pocket, containing some lupine seeds.

The big lupine fields in Iceland are the descendants from

    the seed in that envelope.

Lupines are very easy to find !

    Best regards

Thanx very much, this is really helpful!

Do you know the nicest places in the north west corner? Most tips are about the regular circle and the highlights you pass there. Ofcourse I want to visit those, but I want to see something different too!

I read about puffin colonies in the northeast. What would be the best place to stay for about 2 nights and visit the most interesting spots?

Do you know some not to exensive accommodation? I'll be traveling alone and need a single room (don't sleep in dorms) but I can compromise in not having a private ensuite. I have a hostelwebsite, but maybe you know some regular B&B's/hotels that are not that pricy?

Do you live in Iceland yourself?

Juli gaat 'm niet worden. Autohuur is dubbel zo duur in die periode. Voor juni is de goedkoopste optie 314 retour vanaf Brussel (komt voor mij beter uit ook, want Brussel is dichterbij voor mij)

    Hello

What you call north west corner has the name Vestfirðir = westfiords.

Very rough but beautiful area to visit.

    On this site: http://www.nat.is/travelguideeng/plofin_vestfirdir.htm

you can find helpful infos about Vestfirðir, and which places to visit.

I live in the middle of west Iceland and on my homepage:

    http://www.hvitatravel.is/island/nl_gisting.asp

you can read about the guesthouses in my hometown.

For example, Borgarnes B&B offers high quality single room with breakfast included for 66.-€ per night in the high season.

If you intend to explore Borgarfjörður province take a look at:
