    Great,

The (maybe) ghosts are no problem :-) They can show me the interesting places around and tell me the stories. Now I only have to find it on the map ( or GPS coordinates are welcome ) and I will take a look this summer.

    Waypoints (Map: Hjorsey 1955):

    Easting 418246

    Northing 572281

    But they don't serve breakfast!

  • JOEL

    Thank you Willem,

For breakfast we have to catch some fish I assume. Its next to a river so it must be no problem. Can you give the GRID you used. The standard Lat/Lon grids are longer than six charters and I could not find a correct one.

    Thanks

    Dear Willem,

After some research on the Internet I hopefully have the converted GPS codes

    N 572281 E 418246 ( Date : Hjorsey 1955 GRID : Icelandic Grid ) to

    N64 15.524 W17 30.509 ( Date : WGS84 GRID: Lat/Lon hddd mm.mmm )

I only think I did something wrong because the location I found is South of the Vatnajokull near the mountain Bjarnarsker. Near the Skaftafeel waterfall found on your site at Maps of Iceland ( South East ) “BEZIENSWAARDIGHEDEN”

According mine information the Jokulsa a Flollum in on the North side of the Vatnajokull and streams to the north side of Iceland. Also reading the information there is now a bridge so there must be a road ( kind of road ) As far as I can see on mine map there are to main road crossing the Jokulsa a Flollum That is road number 1 ( nearby Grimsstadir ) and F910

Maybe you can help me or someone else who reads this.

    Thanks

    John

    Hello John !

This cosy accomodation is close to the bridge on Jökulsá á Fjöllum on road nr 1 #

You have to take the breakfast with you , and there is NO fish in Jökulsá river.

You will understand why when you´ll see it.

But I guess that you will not dear to sleep in the hut anyway ;o)

    With the best regards !

    Hello Þ G,

Thanks for the information. I guess and hope to find it now. NO fish !! :-(

Probably because the water is as dirty as it is at Selfoss.

We want to see some more around Myvatn en this time I want to go to Askja. Last time we had to choice between Husavik, whale watching or Askja. So we can stay at the free guest house at the way to Askja.

    Bless

In my Dutch guidebook “IJsland” you can read:

Jökulsárbrú is de brug die werd gebouwd in 1946-1948 over de Jökulsá á Fjöllum. Iets stroomopwaarts werd tot die tijd een veerdienst onderhouden. Alleen een stenen schuilhut uit 1880 (ten noordwesten van de brug; niet zichtbaar vanaf de weg) herinnert daar nog aan. De begane grond was voor de paarden en de eerste verdieping voor de berijders. Er bestaan veel spookverhalen en volksvertellingen over deze plek.

And on a good and bit detailed roadmap it is also marked on the map.

    Hoi Willem,

Ik zal hem er eens op na slaan. In ieder geval bedankt. Ik heb het waarschijnlijk vorige keer niet gelezen of door de overvloed van keuzes niet gekozen.

In ieder geval mijn dank zover.

    Groetjes,

    John
